Canada’s largest gaming-centric convention is returning to downtown T.O. this weekend in a brand new and bigger location. From Friday, October 26th till Sunday, October 28th, EGLX 2018 (Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo) will take over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for 3 awesome days packed with video gaming goodness, as well as panels, tournaments, and meet and greets with celebrities and industry experts.

All weekend long, Fortnite will be playable for anyone in HALL D, along with drop-in tournaments with awesome prizes. Nintendo will also be in attendance, and they’re bringing along some games as well. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be playable at their booth along with Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee and Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu. Canada Computers are bringing their super-rigs to the con, where you can play Far Cry 5, For Honor, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Rainbow Six Siege.

The Microsoft Booth will have Overwatch playable all weekend, with a 3v3 tournament happening on Saturday afternoon. Horror fans may want to check out the Oculus VR booth for a virtual reality experience based on the scariest movie of all time. The Exorcist Legion VR will be playable all weekend and is advertised as “not for the faint of heart.” Finally, there will be an arcade with all your favorite retro arcade titles playable such as Asteroids, Street Fighter II, Galaga, Ghostbusters, and more.

Toronto has finally received an Overwatch League (OWL) team, and they’ll be introduced to the community on the main stage at EGLX 2018 on Saturday afternoon. Attendees can witness player signings and the branding of the new team. With EGLX being the largest convention in Canada centered around gaming, this provides the perfect chance to connect the fan base to their favorite team, that, of course, being Toronto Defiant!

There are panels being held throughout the weekend on various topics, mostly pertaining to gaming and cosplay. Whether you want to learn how to Grow Your Social Media (Saturday at 10 am in Hall D) or learn more about cosplay with the Cosplay 101 Panel (Friday at 12 pm in Hall D), you’ll want to check out the schedule and attend some of these useful panels.

The convention has a nice handful of guests from all walks of life. Some of the bigger names include Mitch Marner (of the Toronto Maple Leafs), Greg Miller and Nick Scarpino (of Kinda Funny and Rooster Teeth), Naomi Kyle (of Everybody Games), and Victor Lucas (of EP Daily), among others. The full list can be found here.

Finally, EGLX will be playing host to the biggest eSports gaming event in the world. World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) is the world’s only Olympic-style eSports tournament. This weekend, the Canadian Grand Finals will be held LIVE on the main stage at EGLX.

If you find yourself in the area this weekend, EGLX 2018 is THE event for all things gaming in Toronto. Tickets are still available on their website here and are cheaper if bought online rather than at the door. See you there!
