The new multiplayer game Fallout 76 will be hitting store shelves soon enough, with an official release date set for Nov. 14. Those who’ve pre-ordered have been able to check it out early, having access codes to try the BETA version of the game. With so much ground to cover in this digital version of West Virginia, there are obviously tons of secrets to find, not the least of which is an appearance from the mythical Mothman creature.

Originating from West Virginia folklore, the story of the Mothman has been explored in countless books and TV shows on the subject. In 2002, the creature was the focus of the plot in the Richard Gere film, The Mothman Prophecies. Gamers had been curious to see if the Mothman would be able to be found in Fallout 76 because of its West Virginia setting, and now it’s been confirmed that the creature is definitely in the game!

Surprisingly, the Mothman is not as dangerous as one would expect. In fact, the creature is so harmless that players are taking the opportunity to take selfies standing next to it. It certainly looks as freaky as one would expect, just as the way it’s described in the local legend. But maybe all the monster really wants is to find itself a friend. Courtesy of Redditors rikku-suave and rosie-roots, you can take a look at the Mothman posing with vault-dwellers in the photographs below.

Players report that the Mothman didn’t attack them, but rather followed them around for about 20 minutes. At least one video shows the creature refusing to even defend itself when one player decides to attack it. It’s also important to remember that this is the BETA version of the game, and the Mothman could end up becoming much more vicious once the full version of Fallout 76 is released. Still

Fallout 76 will be available on Windows, PS4, and Xbox One on Nov. 14.
