During the opening ceremonies of Blizzcon, Blizzard unveiled the newest hero that will be coming to Overwatch very soon. Blizzard, the absolute brilliant minds they are, are capitalizing on the Red Dead Redemption hype by not only releasing a cinematic for their western-styled character, McCree, but they also announced Hero #29, who happens to be of the same ilk, named Ashe.

Ashe is a female hero who is the leader of the Deadlock Gang (formed with McCree). She was featured heavily in the McCree cinematic titled “Reunion.” Ashe will be a damage hero as opposed to support or tank. Her main attack is a rifle that has two modes of fire. The primary mode is a faster rate of fire while the secondary is a more precise shot utilizing a holographic sight for more precision. There is little to no recoil with her rifle (she named Viper), but it does require a reload after every shot.
Her second ability is her Coach Gun, which does a fair bit of damage, but is mostly used as a defense mechanism and to get around the map. The Coach Gun is a sawed-off shotgun that when fired at an enemy player not only blasts them back and deals some damage, but also blasts Ashe back allowing her to get out of some tight situations. The Coach Gun can also be used to blast Ashe up in the air allowing her to reach higher platforms.

Ashe’s third ability is a staple of wild west arsenals, Dynamite. This is used just how you think it would be, she throws it and kaboom. Only, it’s not an instant detonation on account of the wick needing to burn out. In that case, players with a more steady hand can shoot the dynamite in the air causing an instant explosion.
Ashe’s ultimate ability may be the most interesting aspect of her offense. Unlike any other ultimate ability in the game, Ashe’s ultimate includes another character. Also featured in the “Reunion” cinematic, B.O.B. is Ashe’s loyal right-hand man. During Ashe’s childhood in a posh household, B.O.B. was her Omnic butler and has obviously remained loyal all these years. When B.O.B. is deployed, he charges forward knocking, the first player he comes in contact with up in the air, while all other enemies in the vicinity get knocked back. When his charge comes to a halt, B.O.B. will then open up on the enemies in a hail fire of bullets. What makes B.O.B. interesting is that he can be interacted with like any other character. He can be buffed and healed and even Nano-boosted by Ana.
For Overwatch players on PC, Ashe is playable right now on the PTR (Public Test Region). Console players will have to wait a little while longer to experience the new character, but usually no longer than 2-3 weeks after PTR. It doesn’t sound like we’ll be waiting much longer for Hero #30, as game director Jeff Kaplan has said they’re hard at work on a whopping SIX playable characters, including the next hero, who is already ready and playable.
