Perhaps the only films just as fun to watch as horror flicks are the documentaries made about them. For major fans, it’s always interesting to see just how some of our favorite genre films came to be. Find out which ones to watch out for as we take a look at six upcoming horror documentaries which have us intrigued the most.

3Dinner with Leatherface

The late Gunnar Hansen is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the original Leatherface in Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Although he would never again reprise the role, Hansen has become synonymous with Leatherface because of the way he expertly portrayed the masked maniac. Although he played such a dastardly character in the movie, however, Hansen was in reality one of the kindest people you could have ever hoped to meet.

Michael Kallio’s upcoming documentary Dinner with Leatherface will look a closer look at the man behind the stitched-up skin mask. It reveals how Hansen is the polar opposite of the chainsaw-wielding madman that made him famous, with personal stories told by the people who knew him best. This includes many of his colleagues and familiar horror stars such as Bruce Campbell, Linnea Quigley, Betsy Baker, Debbie Rochon, and so much more.

The funding for this film is all coming from Kallio’s pocket, with no crowdfunding campaign for donors to contribute to. This means it’s hard to say when the finished product will be ready for us to see, but the tentative plan is to have it released by October of 2019. Find out more on Facebook.

  1. I grew up with Nightmare on Elm Street 2 when it was on HBO alot back then in the early mid 1980s right before Elm Street 3. Back then when Elm Street 2 was just a sequel and that was it. None of that bullcrap about the movie being “gay” or whatever
