Perhaps the only films just as fun to watch as horror flicks are the documentaries made about them. For major fans, it’s always interesting to see just how some of our favorite genre films came to be. Find out which ones to watch out for as we take a look at six upcoming horror documentaries which have us intrigued the most.

5Nightmares in the Makeup Chair

For fans of A Nightmare on Elm Street, seeing Freddy Krueger on the screen is the most horrifying part of the film. For actor Robert Englund, however, the scariest part about the movie and its sequels is the arduous makeup process involved in becoming the character. It takes hours to transform Englund into the familiar dream demon we all know and love, and it’s probably the part the horror star misses the least about playing the role.

For the sake of the upcoming documentary Nightmares in the Makeup Chair, however, Englund agreed to go through the transformation once again. This time, cameras are rolling, documenting the entire process of makeup artist Robert Kurtzman turning Englund into Freddy. While Englund does regale some stories about his work on the Elm Street films, the film’s intent is to celebrate the work of the practical special effects makeup artists who made all these movies possible.

We’re still waiting to see when we can watch this, but you can stay updated on Facebook.

  1. I grew up with Nightmare on Elm Street 2 when it was on HBO alot back then in the early mid 1980s right before Elm Street 3. Back then when Elm Street 2 was just a sequel and that was it. None of that bullcrap about the movie being “gay” or whatever
