Here at Horror Geek Life, we’re really looking forward to the upcoming meta-film 13 Fanboy. From writer and director Deborah Voorhees, the movie is about a homicidal psychopath obsessed with the Friday the 13th franchise. With many stars from the series playing themselves in the film, they will all be potential victims of the titular fanboy, who starts picking off each of the horror legends one by one.
The confirmed names for the film continue to grow, as today comes the announcement of actress Jennifer Banko joining the cast. Franchise fans will remember Banko as young Tina Shepard from Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. She also had a memorable role as Leatherface’s daughter in the third Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Next, Banko will be playing herself in 13 Fanboy, and just might become one of the many unfortunate victims in the film.
Recently, Banko’s co-star Kane Hodder was also added to the cast. The two horror stars join an already impressive list of talent from multiple films in the Friday the 13th series. This includes Thom Mathews, Judie Aronson, C.J. Graham, Tracie Savage, Carol Locatell, and many more. More familiar faces are expected to be announced for the film soon as well.
“Our horror thriller brings your favorite Friday the 13th actors back to the big screen in an entirely new horror series about a fan, who takes his love for the series too far and targets the real-life women from the franchise to kill them like they were killed in the Friday films or “improve” their deaths.
13 Fanboy melds the slasher-style kills that Friday is famous for and the heart-pounding thrillers such as Hush and Cape Fear. We will be using all practical effects, NO CGI to honor the 80s slashers.”
Right now, 13 Fanboy is currently raising funds for its budget on Indiegogo. There are many different options with exclusive perks available for donors, starting as low as $13 to have your name listed in the movie’s credits. It’s going to be a really exciting film to see for horror fans, and to become a part of its creation, you can back the film by heading on over to Indiegogo!
