Chloë Grace Moretz is certainly no stranger to the horror genre, having appeared in films like The Amityville Horror, Carrie, and the new Suspiria. Next, she’ll be starring in the Focus Features thriller Greta, but this time as a hapless victim whose good deed does not go unpunished. Due to release in the spring of next year, the first official trailer for the film has now been made available online.
In Greta, Frances (Moretz) meets the titular psychopath after finding her handbag on the subway. Frances returns the bag and the woman calling herself Greta seems friendly enough, but things quickly change for the worse when it’s uncovered that the handbag was merely a ruse to lure people in. Greta then stalks and torments Frances, and the trailer teases just how much suffering the young lady will have to endure in the film. By just trying to be nice and develop a friendship with the lonely woman, Frances must now endure her own personal hell at the hands of Greta.
Greta will release in theaters on March 1, 2019. Watch the first official trailer below!
Synopsis: A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz) doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Isabelle Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems in this suspense thriller from Academy Award®-winning director Neil Jordan.
