Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later may no longer exist in the current Halloween continuity, but many franchise fans still remember the flick fondly. Let’s revisit the 1998 slasher sequel with these ten killer facts about the film!

When Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning took a chance by revealing a Jason Voorhees copycat killer to be the murderer in a twist ending, fans of the franchise cried foul. The backlash was similar to Halloween III in that fans just weren’t happy to see the film’s antagonist replaced with an all-new killer. Perhaps there was a lesson here to be learned for writers of horror movie sequels.

However, Halloween H20 was going to have Michael Myers pull a Roy Burns in one conceptualized version of the story. According to actor Adam Hann-Byrd, who plays Charlie in the film, his character was at one point intended to be the movie’s killer. As a copycat killer, Charlie would have worn Michael’s mask while killing teenagers on the campus to pay homage to the iconic killer. “Of course, that doesn’t work out so well for Charlie in the end, because you can’t steal Michael Myers’ identity and get away with it,” Hann-Byrd explained, suggesting that the character would have gotten his comeuppance from the real Michael Myers in the end.

Prior to shooting, however, more script revisions would write out the copycat killer storyline, making Charlie nothing more than an innocent victim. Steve Miner then informed Hann-Byrd his character was going to be the “horny best friend” instead of the killer, which the actor was totally fine with as well, saying “that’s always fun.”
