We can hardly believe that Bill & Ted 3, officially titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, is in development, and with original cast members attached. We have loved seeing all of the updates coming out about the film, and today’s news from the official Bill & Ted 3 Twitter is no different. William Sadler, who played Death in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991), will be back in the third film, reprising the role of Death yet again.
For those who have been asking, @Wm_Sadler will totally be reprising his role! pic.twitter.com/jPDZyseotu

In addition to William Sadler, both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves will be returning as Bill S. Preston Esq. and Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan, respectively. Sadly, comedian and actor George Carlin, who played Rufus, Bill and Ted’s mentor and time traveling guide in the first two films, passed away in 2008. The Bill & Ted 3 Twitter account was asked if there will be a tribute for the late actor in Bill & Ted Face the Music, which they responded to while also addressing the concern over recasting the role of Rufus:
He’s so deeply missed by all who worked with him on the previous two films. His character will not be recast, but his absence will be a part of the whole third movie – including what is possibly the most emotional scene of the film.
Face the Music will again follow Bill and Ted, the would-be rock duo from San Dimas, California. They are now middle-aged dads still trying make it in the rock scene, hoping to finally release their break-out hit and fulfill their destiny. The film is directed by Galaxy Quest and Red 2 director Dean Parisot and written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who were writers for the first two films as well. Production will begin this summer and Face the Music is set for a 2020 release date.
