The DC Universe is about to get a lot more horrific. DCeased is a new dark miniseries that will hit the shelves in May and, as originally reported by CBR.com, the plot is very grim:
“A mysterious techno-virus has been released on Earth, infecting 600 million people and turning them instantly into violent, monstrous engines of destruction. The heroes of the DCU are caught completely unprepared for a pandemic of this magnitude and struggle to save their loved ones first… but what happens to the World’s Greatest Heroes if the world ends?”

Thus far, there has be no word mentioning if this story is going to be cannon or set in an alternate universe. It is being written by Tom Taylor, who is not a newcomer to dark interpretations of DC’s beloved heroes and villains. He is the writer of years one through three of Injusice: Gods Among Us, the comic book based on the hit-selling video game franchise. The art for the series is created by Trevor Hairsine (Judge Dredd and X-Men: Deadly Genesis) and Stefano Guadiano (The Walking Dead). Taylor has shared the first three variant covers by artist Yasmine Putri on his Twitter account. These covers are not retailer exclusive and will make horror movie fans salivate.
Issue #1 is an homage to the classic poster from A Nightmare On Elm Street. Freddy is replaced with a horrific version of Batman as Poison Ivy take’s Nancy’s place.

Issue #2 pays homage to 2017’s critically acclaimed It: Chapter One. One evil clown is replaced by another as a ghastly Joker takes the place of Pennywise and Georgie’s yellow raincoat is replaced by a young Robin’s yellow cape.

Issue #3 is a tribute to another recent film, The Conjuring universe’s The Nun. Superman replaces the titular nun.
