Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the animated movie coming out this year we didn’t know we needed, and some first look images are here. It was recently reported that the animated film was in the works from the collaboration of Warner Bros. and Nickelodeon, and better yet, it will arrive sometime in 2019. Sure, that sounds exciting, but as we can see in a new sneak peek image of the upcoming crossover, it looks pretty incredible too. With this along with a photo of the TMNT preparing for battle with Batman, Batgirl, and Robin, let’s just say it’s not a bad first impression.
In the new photograph, all four familiar turtles can be seen, looking up into the sky. In front of the moon, they can see the trademark silhouette of Batman, who seems to be descending upon the turtles. In the foreground of the picture, multiple batarangs are shown embedded into a light post. The turtles seem to be in Gotham City, though we’ll have to see just how the titular crime-fighting turtles made it there from Manhattan. Also funny is how Batman’s first instinct is to attack the Leonardo and pals with deadly weaponry. Needless to say, it’s going to be interesting to see how Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. manage to combine these two properties together.
Of course, diehard fans may know that this won’t be the first time Batman has clashed with the TMNT. They met in a 2015 comic book series, which saw Batman teaming up with the turtles to take on the Foot Clan. This time, in the upcoming movie, the TMNT will be facing some of Batman’s fiercest foes in Gotham City, presumably after they manage to convince the Caped Crusader that they’re good guys too. the Turtles and Batman taking on members of his rogues gallery.
Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will on digital, 4K, and Blu-ray this spring. You can sneak a peek at the upcoming show with the newly released image below!
