Steve Dash in Friday the 13th: Vengeance (Brownspace Films)

Friday the 13th Part 2 star Steve Dash will be remembered in the YouTube documentary Steve Dash: Husband, Father, Grandfather. The film will pay tribute to Dash following his passing this past December. There has also been a trailer for the YouTube doc, which has been made available online. It will be free to watch on the Slash ‘N Cast YouTube channel when it premieres live on April 26.

Dash is of course known for being the among the first to play the adult version of Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 2. The sequel is the first Friday movie to introduce Jason as the antagonist of the series, as Betsy Palmer’s Mrs. Voorhees was revealed to be the murderer in the original. As touched on in the doc, Dash portrayed the masked version of Jason in the bulk of the film, although another actor plays the character in the scene when he is briefly unmasked. This led to Dash typically always adding “The REAL Jason” when signing autographs for fans, letting them know he was the one doing all of the killing.

The documentary trailer features interview footage from Dash himself from one of his last interviews. Jason actors C. J. Graham (Jason Lives) and Kane Hodder (Parts 7-10) are also shown in the documentary, speaking about their experiences with Dash and how they remember him. With so many horror conventions bringing in multiple Friday the 13th franchise stars over the past several years, Graham and Hodder had gotten to know Dash very well, and it’s interesting to hear more about the late horror legend from his colleagues.

Steve Dash: Husband, Father, Grandfather – A Memorial Documentary will premiere live on the Slash ‘N Cast YouTube channel on April 26 at 8 p.m. EST. You can watch the official trailer below.
