When Fallout 76 launched late last year, one of the biggest complaints was that the Wasteland felt TOO desolate due to its lack of human NPCs. The only humans found in the game were real human players, and they often wanted to a couple of bullets in your noggin. Now, Bethesda aims to fix this issue by finally adding some NPC humans across West Virginia.
The update, titled “Wastelanders,” will “fundamentally change the game,” according to Bethesda. The biggest change coming in this update is undoubtedly the addition of human NPCs. In addition to the humans, the update will also add a brand new quest line, as well as choice and consequence scenes. It’s beginning to look a lot like Fallout. New weapons and gear will be added, too.
Fallout 76 will also be getting a battle royale mode, because of course it is. Battle royales are incredibly popular and Bethesda is hopping on that train with “Nuclear Winter.” In “Nuclear Winter,” 52 vault dwellers battle it out to become the overseer of the coveted Vault 51. Players duke it out in red or blue jumpsuits and nothing is off limits. That scorchbeast? He’s in the fight. Those nukes? You can use them. Much like Fortnite’s “Storm,” Fallout 76‘s “Nuclear Winter” will progress the gameplay with a giant ring of fire enclosing around the battlefield.
The “Wastelanders” update will drop this fall and will be free for everyone. Starting tomorrow, June 10th, and running until June 17th, Fallout 76 will be free for everyone to try out. Even better, the “Nuclear Winter” mode will be playable as well during the trial before it’s officially released in the fall.
As someone who was seriously disappointed with Fallout 76, I’ve got to say these new updates are getting me interested again and I can’t wait to check it out this week.
