The announcement a lot of people were waiting for from Square Enix finally came at the very end of their E3 2019 conference last night. Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers has finally been revealed. The game was teased at E3 a few years ago and has been on fans’ minds at every E3 since, and now we finally have answers.

Avengers will be Crystal Dynamics’ own original take on the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The game will feature an all-new original story that is not tied to the movies and will feature a number of recognizable heroes and villains. From the initial footage that was shown off, we’ve already seen Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Bruce Banner/Hulk, Black Widow, and Hank Pym! In Avengers, the Avengers band has broken up, but a threat from a currently unknown force of evil forces the heroes to…assemble.

We also got an impressive cast announcement as well including Nolan North as Tony Stark/ Iron Man, Troy Baker as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Travis Willingham as Thor, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, and Jeff Schine as Captain America.

A few additional details were shared about the game when Vice President and Creative Director of Marvel Games, Bill Rosemann, took the stage. Avengers will have single-player gameplay and online multiplayer co-op. It will never have pay-to-win features or loot boxes.  Every new hero and region that gets added to the game will come at no extra cost to the players.

Avengers will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC on May 15th, 2020. Players on PlayStation 4 will receive a few extra bonuses as we get closer to release. They’ll get exclusive early beta access, and some extra content that will be announced at a later date. The game is the product of a partnership between Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
