The long-awaited sequel to 2013’s The Last Of Us has finally received a release date. Today, during Sony’s short ‘State of Play 2019’ conference, they showed a few things but the best thing by far was a teaser for The Last Of Us Part II. At the end of the trailer, we got the date we’ve all been waiting for- February 21, 2020.
The trailer showed Ellie braving it in the wild, facing off against some deadly foes, and at one point seemingly losing someone very close. Just before the release date reveal, we got another reveal just as sweet. Fans of the series can stop speculating, Joel is back! Seemingly, the main protagonist from the first game is still alive. I’m excited to see what role he plays in the game.
Upon the release date in 2020, you’ll have quite a few options for how you want to buy the game. You will, of course, be able to buy the standard edition for $60 USD/$80 CAD. On top of that, there’s a Collector’s Edition that will set you back $170 USD/$230 CAD. This version comes with the game (duh), as well as a 12’’ statue of Ellie, a replica of Ellie’s bracelet, a custom steel book for the game, a 48-page mini artbook, lithograph art print, and a set of five stickers.
If the Collector’s Edition isn’t enough for you (we’ve been waiting 7 years for this game!) then the Ellie Edition is what you’re looking for. For a whopping $230 USD/$300 CAD you’ll get the game and everything in the Collector’s Edition, but in addition, the Ellie Edition also comes with a fully functional replica of Ellie’s backpack (what’s a fully functional backpack?), an embroidered patch, and a 7’’ vinyl record.

To sum up everything, The Last Of Us Part II comes out February, 21st 2020. It will have three physical editions to choose from, and Joel’s back! I loved The Last Of Us, and the gameplay in Part II looks absolutely beautiful. This is one game I’ll be picking up for sure! Will you be pre-ordering the game?
Also, if you haven’t played the first game, it was announced during ‘State of Play 2019’ that The Last Of Us will be free for PSN members next month. Perfect time to pick it up and play it before Part II next year!
