PlayStation Plus Free Games for October 2019

The Last of Us | Sony/Naughty Dog

A new month means new free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and Sony is offering some new titles for gamers in October 2019. A violent horror title is included, which is perfect for the Halloween season, while the service will be offering a Major League Baseball game as well. Talk about completely different gaming experiences.

In any case, both titles will be available starting on Oct. 1. Here’s what’s coming to PlayStation Plus in October…

MLB The Show 19

MLB The Show 19 is the 14th installment of the MLB: The Show video game series. Released in March of this year, the game featured Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper on the cover. The game received mostly positive reviews from critics and its graphics are akin to watching an actual game on television. For longtime fans of the sport, it even features a game mode which lets players recreate famous moments from MLB history.

Of course, if you’re not a fan of professional baseball, this title may not interest you. If you are, well, then it’s clearly a must-play if you don’t have it already.

The Last of Us Remastered

More appropriately included for the October free game selection is The Last of Us Remastered, the ultimate version of the hit game from developer Naughty Dog. Set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutated zombies, the game follows a smuggler escorting a young girl across the United States. The title is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, and for those who’ve played it, it’s hard to argue against that logic.

Releasing the remastered version of The Last of Us soon is also comes at a time when interest has just been revitalized in the franchise. The official sequel, The Last of Us II, has been given an official release date of Feb. 21, 2020, and it will come in three alternate physical editions.
