These ‘Contra’ Funko Pops Will Have You Remembering the Konami Code

Funko has unveiled their new Contra Funko Pop! figures, and one look at them will instantly bring this iconic phrase into your mind: Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start. Known as the infamous “Konami Code,” inputting these buttons on the title screen of the NES version of Contra would enable a cheat code giving the players thirty lives instead of the usual three. The classic code was used in many other titles developed by Konami as well, though using it was practically essential for the ultra-difficult Contra.

Constant deaths aside, Contra is an incredibly fun and addictive game, especially when playing alongside a second player. The game would spawn many sequels across multiple consoles in the following years, though the original remains among the most memorable installments of the franchise. Recognizing this nostalgia, Bill and Lance from the classic shooter will now be immortalized in Pop! figure form, courtesy of the fine folks at Funko.

On their official Twitter account, Funko revealed their now figures for Bill and Lance of Contra, and you can take a look at the photo below.
