Snips is FINALLY making her live-action debut. The news broke that actress Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) will be the one to bring the fan-favorite Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano to the live-action realm. This article may feature spoilers for the original run of Clone Wars, as well as the first season of The Mandalorian, so consider yourself warned.

This is a fan-casting that can be traced back at least 3 years ago. In 2017, a fan tweeted at Dawson, begging the actress to appear as Ahsoka in a live-action Star Wars film, to which Dawson replied:

The actress’s interest was later backed up when she was questioned about it while appearing on Good Morning America!, with her responding “It would be amazing!”.

Ahsoka was a fan-favorite character, appearing for the first time in the 2008 Clone Wars movie, then appeared as a staple throughout the entire series. She then went on to make a series of appearances in Star Wars: Rebels

Absolutely zero info is known about Ahsoka’s appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian, but let’s speculate for a bit.

At the end of The Mandalorian’s first season, we saw that Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) not only survived his wreck, but escaped wielding the infamous dark saber. The dark saber was a weapon that showed up a few times during Clone Wars and subsequently Rebels. One of the owners of said darksaber was Sabine Wren, a part of the rebel faction that Ahsoka worked with many times throughout the show. So not only could the darksaber hold the key to Ahsoka’s return, but it may also signify the return of Sabine Wren as well.

Something else I’m curious to see is if they go the ‘Darth Maul’ route and use Dawson as the body of Ahsoka while Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka’s voice actress in the series’) dubs over the character’s lines.

As a fan of both Ahsoka and Rosario Dawson, I am incredibly excited to see the character make her live-action debut later this year. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ in October 2020. The first season is currently streaming.
