Joe Exotic Wants to Be Played by Brad Pitt or “Joe Dirt” in ‘Tiger King’ Film

Joe Exotic is most definitely going to be portrayed by someone in an upcoming movie or television series based on Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, and Mr. Exotic himself has already volunteered two big names. Speaking about the series in an interview with The Hollywood ReporterTiger King directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin reveal that Joe has since told them from prison about who he hopes to play him in a potential scripted biopic.

“He would like Brad Pitt or David Spade to play him,” Chaiklin directly states in the interview. Reflecting how Joe refers to Spade, Chaiklin also adds: “He doesn’t refer to David Spade as David Spade — he refers to him as ‘Joe Dirt.’” Admittedly, it’s not a stretch to see the physical resemblance when comparing the two Joes, though it’s not so hard to picture Pitt in the potential role either.

As for Carole Baskin, word is she’s going to be portrayed by Ghostbusters star Kate McKinnon in a planned limited series based on the feud between Baskin and Joe Exotic. No names have yet been attached to play Joe in that series, but perhaps McKinnon and the others working on that project will keep Joe’s suggestions from his prison cell in mind. If not, they can always go with Dax Shepard, who has also volunteered himself to play the role.

Since premiering on Netflix last month, Tiger King: Murder,  Mayhem and Madness has quickly become one of the most popular shows of the year. Goode and Chaiklin have also teased a possible second season, suggesting that more to the story is still unfolding, and other adaptations like McKinnon’s project also seem inevitable. In other words, there’s going to be plenty more Tiger King to come yet, and you can see what all of the roaring and raving is about by watching the series in its entirety over on Netflix.
