Spirit Halloween Confirms Stores WILL Open in 2020

Over the last few days, a letter has been circulating on Spirit Halloween letterhead stating they would not open in 2020. In case you haven’t seen it yet, the letter says:

To Our Loyal Patrons and Fans,

It is with heavy hearts that the Spirit Halloween team must issue a notice regarding seasonal store openings in 2020.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and the lack of international commerce at this time, it is likely that our stores will not be opening for the 2020 season.

However, for the sake of our Halloween superfans, we will be releasing several new items for the 2020 season including costumes, masks, wigs, indoor and outdoor decor items, animatronics, makeup, collectibles, props and in-depth accessories. With our “So Much Fun It’s Scary” mission statement, Spirit will continue to provide an entertaining and interactive in-store experience for all.

We apologize for the unfortunate news but greatly look forward to our 2020 season and beyond.

Regards,
Spirit Halloween

As reported by TruthorFiction.com, the letter was actually made as a gag by YouTuber Mak Ralston, who owns the channel Haunt Former. Ralston has officially apologized to the Internet and Spirit Halloween, saying, “This is a great example to not trust you see on the Internet because a lot of times, if [it’s] not official it can be fake even if it looks official.”

Today, much to the delight of horror and Halloween fans everywhere, Spirit issued the following statement on their official Facebook page:

Dear Halloween Fans,

We heard you’re crushed, disheartened, and downright sad. Well, don’t worry, the rumors aren’t true.

WE ARE BACK & WE GOT THIS COVERED

We are safely preparing the best in-store experience possible and can’t wait to welcome you back at our 1,400 locations Nationwide – popping up this August! It’s been a challenging year, but we promise to keep the Halloween spirit alive.

Come early, come often and help make this year the #BestHalloweenEver.

So, there you have it. Now, let’s all just hope that the Halloween fun this year won’t be canceled.
