The Master of Horror says we can expect a bloody and violent time for Michael Myers in Halloween Kills, as John Carpenter is teasing a high body count for the anticipated sequel. Speaking with IndieWire, Carpenter had some interesting things to say about the next Halloween film. “The movie is something else,” Carpenter tells the publication. “It’s fun, intense and brutal, a slasher movie times one hundred, big time. It’s huge. I’ve never seen anything like this: the kill count!

It’s worth pointing out that Michael killed 16 people in David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween film, which is already much more brutal than the character was originally portrayed in Carpenter’s original Halloween. The way Carpenter speaks about Halloween Kills suggests it may be even twice as violent if not more so, so there’s going to be no shortage of bodies for the residents of Haddonfield to discover during this year’s Trick-or-Treat festivities. It also means Laurie Strode is in much more danger than ever before (well, unless we’re counting Halloween: Resurrection, which some fans choose not to do).

The sequel will also again feature the music of Carpenter, who has returned to work on the score with godson Daniel Davies and son Cody Carpenter. This news also follows the recent release of two new Carpenter tracks which will be included on his upcoming album. For the Master of Horror’s biggest fans, his music is just as amazing as his filmmaking, and witnessing Carpenter performing live on tour is one of the most incredible experiences to be a part of. He can also be seen in concert in a home video release of his show from Storm King Productions.

Halloween Kills was set to release in theaters on Oct. 16, 2020, however, John Carpenter has confirmed that it has been delayed until 2021.
