Chris Evans is honoring the bold efforts of a real-life superhero, as The Avengers star is sending his Captain America shield to a young boy who risked his own life to save his little sister. Earlier this month, 6-year-old Bridger Walker was outside with his younger sister when he observed a vicious dog charging straight for her. To protect his sibling, Bridger stepped in between them, resulting in significant injuries and around 90 stitches applied to his face.

After Bridger’s aunt shared his story online, word of the boy’s heroics went viral. The news would soon enough make its way to Chris Evans, who was just as impressed with Bridger as the rest of us. In another video that was shared by Bridger’s aunt on Instagram, Evans directly addresses the young superhero and praises him for his bravery.
“Pal, you’re a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless. Your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you,” Evans says in the video. He also offers an genuine Captain America shield worthy of a true superhero, telling Bridger he’ll send him the shield because he really deserves it. “Keep being the man you are, we need people like you,” Evans adds.
Additionally, Bridger’s story has attracted the attention of some other superhero actors as well. This includes Grant Gustin, from The CW’s The Flash TV series, who responded to the original Instagram post with, “What an amazing big brother superhero!!” Even celebrities outside of the realm of superheroes have been commending the boy as well, such as famous chef Gordon Ramsay. “I may not be a hero in the Marvel Universe but heroes need to be fed ! Dinners on me bud,” Ramsay said on Instagram.
