It looks as though Jonathan Majors’ remarkable job on HBO’s Lovecraft Country was enough to gain the attention of Kevin Feige and the MCU. The actor has been confirmed for a major role in the upcoming Ant-Man 3 film, directed by Peyton Reed and starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. According to close sources to the project, he is likely to portray the time-traveling supervillain known as Kang the Conqueror. In the Marvel Comics universe, Kang has tussled with everyone from the Fantastic 4, to the X-Men, to the Avengers. He’s the perfect villain to introduce into the MCU, as he can use his time traveling to weave in-and-out of the past and present films, making all sorts of unforeseen changes.
Majors had been gaining some serious steam from his roles in The Last Black Man In San Francisco, which has won awards at various film festivals. He also worked with fellow MCU alumni Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, which premiered on Netflix earlier this year.
With the theater release delays from Covid-19, the MCU gets some good news by adding an extremely talented actor for their fans to get excited about. As of now, Ant-Man 3 is slated to be released in 2022.
