Three more Mortal Kombat movie stars have returned in a new DLC for the video game Mortal Kombat 11. Now available to purchase digitally for $5.99, the Klassic MK Movie Skin Pack adds three new character skin variants to Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Raiden. Reprising their roles from the original movie adaptation, the DLC pack will feature the voices and likenesses of Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, Linden Ashby, and Christopher Lambert. The game dubs the trio as “Island Bound Sonya Blade,” “Hollywood Kombatant Johnny Cage,” and “Protector of Earthrealm Raiden.”
While Mortal Kombat didn’t set the box office on fire when it was released, it has become a cult classic with gamers who remember it with fond nostalgia. Because all three characters were recast for the sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, this will mark the first time Wilson-Sampras, Ashby, and Lambert have played the roles since the Mortal Kombat movie was released in 1995. While it’s for a video game, it’s awesome as a fan of the film to see the classic characters return with the actual actors doing the voice acting, looking exactly how they appeared in the original movie.
The introduction of the Mortal Kombat movie’s Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Raiden follows a previous arrival of another character from the film. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa returned to reprise the role of Shang Tsung last year, with his likeness and voice used for an alternate skin for the character in a DLC pack. This followed Tagawa’s previous return to playing Shang Tsung when he played the antagonist in the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, although this wasn’t the same Shang Tsung from the 1995 movie’s universe.
