Evil Dead: The Game was officially announced at The Game Awards 2020, giving gamers a chance to revisit the infamous cabin to slay evil with Ash. The game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2021.
Offering multiplayer gameplay, both co-op and PvP modes will be available. Games will feature teams of four tasked with sealing the “breach between worlds.” Meanwhile, other players will “take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves.”
“I’m excited to be strapping on the chainsaw one more time,” Bruce Campbell said. “Boss Team and Saber Interactive are planning a huge immersive dealio, and I knew I had to come back. You’ll be able to step into my shoes and kick some Deadite ass!”
Multiple maps from the Evil Dead franchise will be included, with the trailer revealing our look at the cabin in the woods. Dozens of weapons will also be available for use, and yes, that includes a chainsaw for Ash, who wasn’t able to use one as an unlockable character in Dead by Daylight. We can expect to see tons of Easter eggs as well, such as the laughing dear head from Evil Dead 2 featured in the trailer.
There have been recent rumors of Campbell returning to the video game world as Ash, particularly as a playable fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. Those rumors were never confirmed, and it remains unclear if Ash will ever appear in the MK franchise. In any case, there’s now something even greater for Evil Dead fans and video gamers to look forward to.
There’s no official release date that’s yet been set for Evil Dead: The Game, but the title will be here sometime in 2021.
