Peter Mark Richman in Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan (Paramount Pictures)

Veteran actor Peter Mark Richman, known to horror fans for his role as Charles McCulloch in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, has sadly passed away. Per THR, the actor died on Thursday morning of natural causes at his home in Woodland Hills. He was 93 years old.

A veteran of the screen for decades, Richman has appeared in a variety of different roles on both the big and small screens. In film, he’s appeared in movies like Friendly PersuasionThe Black Orchid, and The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear. On the small screen, he’s had all kinds of roles on such titles as DynastyThe Twilight ZoneThe Outer LimitsStar Trek: The Next Generation, and so much more.

Of course, longtime fans of the Friday the 13th franchise will remember Richman best for his role as Charles McCulloch in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. A dastardly character, McCulloch is introduced to a barrel of sludge when Jason finally confronts him in New York. Certainly, McCulloch was a character most fans loved to hate with Richman playing the part to such perfection.

Behind the scenes, Richman was nothing at all like his Friday the 13th character. V.C. Dupree, who plays Julius in Jason Takes Manhattan, says as much in a tribute post to Richman on Facebook. He writes, “As Principal McCulloch he was anything but nice; but in real life he was nothing but a gentleman; poised, and soft spoken. RIP my friend… ‘Julius'”
