‘Skull Island’ and ‘Tomb Raider’ will get Two New Anime Netflix Series

As we all look forward to Godzilla vs. Kong, Netflix and Legendary Television have announced two new anime series, one based on Legendary’s Skull Island and the second on Square Enix’s Tomb Raider. The companies are also working on an anime series for Pacific Rim: The Black

The animation studio behind the Castlevania series, Powerhouse Animation, will bring the Skull Island animated adventure series to screen. Brian Duffield and Jacob Robinson (under his company Tractor Pants) will executive produce, with Duffield also acting as writer.

Official synopsis: Skull Island will follow shipwrecked characters desperate to escape the most dangerous place on Earth— a mysterious island home to prehistoric monsters, including the greatest titan of them all, Kong.

Set after the events of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, the next chapter in Lara Croft’s epic adventures will come to life in the new series. Executive Producers are Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja), who will write and executive produce, dj2 Entertainment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson (Sonic the Hedgehog), Stephan Bugaj and Howard Bliss; Jacob Robinson, under his company Tractor Pants.

In 2013, the Tomb Raider video game, developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, set to reboot the Croft storyline, allowing a newer generation and longtime fans to play out her first expedition. In 2015, the sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider was released, taking place one year after the events of the 2013 game. Completing the trilogy is 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, set two month after Rise.
