More news has rolled in for Eli Roth’s upcoming movie adaptation of Borderlands. Jack Black will voice the lovable, chatty, and sarcastic robot Claptrap, which does seem like a great fit for Black. He will be joining co-star Cate Blanchett, who officially signed on to play Lilith back in May 2020. Both Blanchett and Black have previously worked with Roth on 2018’s The House With a Clock in its Walls.

It has been confirmed that Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis have also been cast. Curtis will play Tannis, “an archeologist on Pandora who might have the key to finding a vault filled with alien weapon technology, but whose complicated history with Lilith isn’t going to help.” Hart will play a highly-skilled soldier named Roland.

Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, Borderlands released in October 2009 and sold 4.5 million units worldwide in just under two years. The game was followed by Borderlands 2 in 2012, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in 2014, and Borderlands 3 in 2019. The last game sold more than 8 million copies within the first few months of release.
