Evan Peters Boards ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’

Evan Peters in American Horror Story: Cult (FX)

American Horror Story mainstay Evan Peters will play serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. In development at Netflix from AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Monster will chronicle the life and crimes of Dahmer, one of the most notorious murderers in American history.

Also starring in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is Niecy Nash (Reno 911!, Scream Queens) as the show’s female lead, Glenda Cleveland. A neighbor of Dahmer, Cleveland was the woman who called the police when a drugged teenage victim escaped from Dahmer’s apartment, only to be returned to Jeffrey’s custody when the cops arrived. Cleveland’s calls to the police and the FBI went ignored for the next several weeks as Dahmer went on to kill another four victims.

Penelope Ann Miller (Big Top Pee-wee) also stars as Dahmer’s mother, Joyce. She joins Richard Jenkins, whose casting had been announced previously, as Jeffrey’s father Lionel Dahmer. Shaun Brown and Colin Ford have also been given supporting roles, with the former playing a would-be Dahmer victim named Tracy and the latter playing a character named Chazz.

Dahmer’s crimes have inspired a plethora of portrayals over the years with different actors playing the cannibalistic serial killer. This includes the biopic Dahmer with Avengers star Jeremy Renner, My Friend Dahmer with Disney Channel star Ross Lynch, and the bizarre comedy-horror Dahmer Vs. Gacy with Ford Austin. Oddly enough, Dahmer was even featured in American Horror Story: Hotel as portrayed by Seth Gabel, with Peters playing another character that season.

Janet Mock is also on board to write and direct multiple episodes. Franklin and Mock will executive produce alongside Murphy, Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Eric Kovtun.

A premiere date for Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hasn’t yet been set.
