Fiona Dourif Will Return as Nica in ‘Chucky’ TV Series

Chucky (Syfy/USA Network)

Fiona Dourif will return in Chucky, the upcoming TV series that serves as a continuation of the Child’s Play franchise. Dourif first appeared in the series in the 2013 sequel Curse of Chucky, playing the role of homebound paraplegic Nica Pierce. She later reprised the role in 2017’s Cult of Chucky with the character once again battling the killer doll in a mental health facility.

Now, EW reports that Dourif is confirmed to appear in the Chucky TV series as well. This follows the previous announcement that her father, Brad Dourif, would also be back to provide the voice of Chucky. It had seemed likely that both Dourifs would be involved in the upcoming series, but it’s nice to get the confirmation.

Jennifer Tilly, another mainstay of the franchise since Bride of Chucky, has also announced that she’ll be back as Tiffany. It is expected that other stars from the original movie series will be making special appearances as well, but the show will primarily follow a new cast of characters. The new cast includes Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Brione, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson.

Don Mancini, Chucky’s creator who has been writing all of the Child’s Play movies (sans the remake) since the original and directed the past three installments, serves as the showrunner of Chucky. He will also direct the pilot episode and serve as a writer on the series. Executive producing alongside Mancini are David Kirschner, Harley Peyton, Nick Antosca, and Alex Hedlund.

An official release date hasn’t yet been set for Chucky, but a teaser trailer released last year announced that the series would debut sometime in 2021. You can watch the teaser below.

Synopsis: After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
