It has been announced that the upcoming horror-comedy series Wellington Paranormal has been picked up by The CW and HBO Max. A spinoff of the hilarious 2014 vampire film What We Do in the Shadows, the show was created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, with Clement also acting as co-writer and co-director.
Synopsis: Wellington Paranormal follows the adventures of Officers O’Leary (Karen O’Leary, What We Do In The Shadows) and Minogue (Mike Minogue, What We Do In The Shadows), hard-working members of the Wellington constabulary’s paranormal unit who, under the supervision of Sergeant Maaka (Maaka Pohatu, Savage), investigate supernatural occurrences that arise in the capital of New Zealand on a surprisingly regular basis.

This is the first time a primetime series has been acquired by both networks. Wellington Paranormal will air on The CW and be available on The CW app. The episode will be available for HBO Max subscribers the following day.
What We Do In The Shadows is a mockumentary-style film which follows a household of ancient vampires living in modern-day times. The film stars Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, who also wrote and directed the film. In 2019, a TV show adaptation of the film premiered on FX, this time following a household of vampires living in modern-day Staten Island. The show currently has two seasons, with a third season confirmed by FX. All of the episodes are available on Hulu, and definitely worth binging.
