Five months after completing its principal photography, the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City cast and crew are currently filming reshoots in Toronto. Directed by Johannes Roberts (The Strangers: Prey at Night, 47 Meters Down), the film is set to release in theaters on November 24, 2021.
The filming update was given by Robbie Amell (The Babysitter: Killer Queen, A Series of Unfortunate Events), who is portraying Chris Redfield. The actor announced on a Twitch livestream, “I’m actually back in Toronto for Resident Evil reshoots. So, I’m back in Chris Redfield mode.”

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is a reboot of the Resident Evil film series and will be based on the first two video games, originally released in 1996 and 1998 via Capcom. The film is to serve as an origin story set in 1998, explaining the secrets of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City.
Synopsis: Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever changed and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
With a script written by Johannes Roberts, the film stars Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, and Donal Logue as Chief Brian Irons.
