A Friday the 13th: The Game developer has revealed new details about some of the unrealized projects the team had planned for the game. As fans know, legal problems over the rights to the series have resulted in an end to all new content, meaning no new DLC will ever be added again. It’s an unfortunate situation all around, as fans enjoying the game were always looking forward to what was going to be incorporated next.
Now that some time has passed, Gun Media’s Wes Keltner decided to let the fans know about some of the content that was planned for Friday the 13th: The Game but never fully realized. Via TwitLonger, Keltner explained the company’s ideas for two upcoming clothing packs that would have added some fun new content. One would have been a Slumber Party pack, and along with sleepwear for the counselors, the update would have even come with a real phone number for fans to call.
“It had a pre-recorded message of our counselors saying silly sexy stuff like those dumb commercials from the 80’s and 90’s,” Keltner explained. “It would have been fun. These assets were in the code, but the judge ruled that it wasn’t ‘marketably viable’. Meaning it needed to pass console certification, and it wasn’t ready for that. So it might have looked done, but not in the eyes of the court.”
Meanwhile, the devs also wanted to add a Prom Pack to Friday the 13th: The Game as well. Along with tuxes and dresses for the counselors, the pack would have also brought in new additions to the environment. This would’ve even included a dance floor similar to the one seen in Jason Takes Manhattan. Another idea was to turn the bird bath into a punch bowl which could still be used as an environmental kill for Jason.

The biggest takeaway from the new revelations about the unreleased content is about the “Paranoia” game mode. At one point, Gun Media released a teaser for the new mode, though no information was provided as to how it would play. From the new TwitLonger post, we now know it would have played similar to Among Us, and it’d be inspired by Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. From the post:
Yes it was a new game mode. Kinda similar to Among Us. Everyone spawns as counselors. No Jason. You have to find the Part 5 mask. Then you can become Jason. We discussed forcing the player to have to “hide” to change back and forth. Perhaps the armoire/closet thing. The player could be killed if in counselor mode. If killed they drop the mask on the ground for the next counselor to pick up and become Part 5. We were building new escapes for this game mode that required 2+ counselors to escape. Like holding open a gate, etc. It had moments of fun, but needed more work.
Friday the 13th: The Game is still active, as a dedicated fan base continues to play despite the lack of new content. We can only imagine what the game would be like today if not for the legal issues. Maybe a sequel can be made someday, once the courtroom drama finally ends. Let’s just hope that day comes soon.
