After several failed sequels, TV shows, and comic attempts to refresh the franchise, Warner Bros. has greenlit a feature film revival of the 1987 horror-comedy classic The Lost Boys. Netflix showrunner Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World, I Am Not Okay with This) has signed on to direct, with Randy McKinnon (Chambers) set to write the screenplay.
The only casting announcements thus far have been for Jaeden Martell (IT films, Knives Out) and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place films, The Undoing) appearing. We can probably expect some more exciting additions if the film is to live up to the original Joel Schumacher-helmed predecessor.
The original film boasted a group of memorable ’80s actors, like Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, and Alex Winter.

Warner Bros. originally planned to reboot The Lost Boys as a TV series last year on the CW but scrapped the idea due to production issues during the pandemic. A feature film could re-spark interest in the franchise and hopefully become the financial success that the 1987 film was, which earned $32 million against an $8 million budget.
The original film follows two brothers who move cross-country to Santa Carla, California, the “murder capital of the world,” as they try to adapt to a new life. However, a group of vampire thugs terrorizes their family, even targeting one for their pack.
