For the first time in over two years, Fan Expo Canada is making its long-awaited return to Toronto. This marks the first major convention held in Canada since the COVID-19 pandemic began. For the first time since August 2019, Fan Expo is back for a weekend full of celebrities, shopping, autographs, panels, photo ops, comics, video games, anime, and just about anything else your nerdy brain can imagine.Â
The three-day event boasts a pretty impressive guest list with celebrities spanning multiple genres. Some of the heavy hitters include William Shatner (Star Trek), Ray Fisher (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Adam Savage (Mythbusters), George Takei (Star Trek), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2), and so much more.Â

The convention is also bringing an amazing lineup of voice actors and comic creators as well. Tara Strong (Teen Titans, Batman Arkham series), Chris Sabat (Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia), Beau Billingslea (Cowboy Bebop), Charles Martinet (Mario), Steve Downes (Halo), Maile Flannagan (Naruto), Veronica Taylor (Pokemon) just to name a few (there’s a lot).Â
Comic guests coming to Fan Expo include Jason Fabok, David Finch, Sam Maggs, Joe Rubinstein, Emmanuelle Chateauneuf, Dan Didio, and Dawn McTeigue who will be there to sign comics, doodle some commissions, and sell prints. Artists’ Alley is always one of my favorite parts of a convention, I can’t wait to check it out this year.Â
Of course, if celebrities aren’t your thing there’s a slew of things that will devour your time at Fan Expo. While the convention is smaller this year, it’ll still feature a myriad of vendors to go broke at. One of my favorite parts of a convention is hunting the aisles for comics to fill voids in my collection, figures to adorn my shelves, and art to beautify my walls. Panels are always a good time. This year, to abide by health guidelines, panels will be standing room only, so keep that in mind. That being said, there are a ton of panels this weekend that you won’t want to miss.
Fan Expo Canada: LIMITED EDITION will run from Friday, October 22nd until Sunday, October 24th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, with both buildings once again being used for the convention. The con will be following COVID guidelines with a full vaccine requirement, masks, social distancing, and a limited ticket release. That being said, tickets are selling out fast so head to the website to purchase yours if you were hoping to partake in any of the geeky goodness happening this weekend.Â
