It looks like Tom Holland Spidey fans can relax a bit, as Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal, who has worked on all of the Sony/Marvel collaborative Spider-Man films, revealed to Fandango that post-Spider-Man: No Way Home, a plan for a second trilogy starring Tom Holland is in the works. Pascal stated:
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
Though no details have been released on the upcoming trilogy, fans have been given hints as Spider-Man makes an appearance in the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes character from Spider-Man: Homecoming shows up in the trailer for Morbius. There’s a lot of speculation that a true Sinister Six film is on the way.
The announcement is a bit of a surprise after Holland recently told GQ in an interview, “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”
Lucky for us Tom Holland Spider-Man fans, he’s only 25, which leaves plenty of time for a few more films in the MCU. The actor has also since responded to Pascal’s new trilogy announcement, telling Quotidien, “Listen, all I’ll say is that we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about. I don’t know what those things are, or what they will transpire to be, but it looks like it’s an incredibly bright future ahead. And, as I’ve said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theaters on Dec. 17th.
