Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are taking the Halloween franchise deep into the Michaelverse with the announcement of Halloween: No Way Home. Set to follow this year’s release of Halloween Ends, the film will serve as another fresh reboot of the story, but in a way that brings together the different timelines of the franchise in a big way. This time, Michael Myers will have not one, but three Tommy Doyles to worry about.
In the original Halloween, Tommy Doyle, the young boy babysat by Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) was played by Brian Andrews. In the Jamie Lloyd timeline, the role was recast with Paul Rudd for the sixth film, The Curse of Michael Myers. More recently, Anthony Michael Hall played an older version of Tommy in last year’s Halloween Kills. All three actors will be sharing the screen in Halloween: No Way Home as different incarnations of the same character. You can read the official synopsis for the film below.
“One Halloween night in Haddonfield, a group of teenagers experimenting with witchcraft inadvertently create a wormhole with different versions of the town’s residents coming through from alternate dimensions. This includes Tommy Doyle (Brian Andrews) and Tommy Doyle (Paul Rudd), with the two meeting up with Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall). They realize that what they all have in common is their brushes with local serial killer Michael Myers.
That same night, Myers just happens to return back home to Haddonfield to embark on another killing spree. As Laurie Strode is not around (the character having been killed off-screen in an alien abduction gone awry in this timeline), Haddonfield’s best chance at surviving the night is to give Michael Myers – along with his Variants from different Halloween timelines – a triple dose of Tommy Doyle.”
As announced by the studio, David Gordon Green directs Halloween: No Way Home using a screenplay penned by Carrot Top. The film stars Brian Andrews, Paul Rudd, Anthony Michael Hall, Danielle Harris, Kristina Klebe, PJ Soles, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, George P. Wilbur, Tyler Mane, Dick Warlock, and Tom Atkins. It is set to be released on April 1, 2023.
In all actuality, as awesome as it would be to see this movie actually be made, this entire news story is completely fictional. Happy April Fools’ Day!
