Fans of the late gothic/fantasy author Anne Rice have been early anticipating more looks and details on AMC’s upcoming Interview With the Vampire series. The 7-episode run is coming to the small screen this fall.
The official plot synopsis reads:
Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. Chafing at the limitations of life as a Black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.
But Louis’ intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.
Of course, this is not the first Interview With the Vampire adaptation to be made, as a feature film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, and Kirsten Dunst was released in November 1994. Directed by Neil Jordan, the screenplay was written by author Anne Rice.
Show executive producer Mark Johnson talked with Entertainment Weekly about what sets the show apart for fans, ensuring it will “surprise a lot of people.”

He went on to say, “We tried to stay as true to the spirit of the book as possible, but it’s very much a modern interpretation. In many ways, our show is truer to the book than the movie was, which is ironic because Anne Rice herself wrote the screenplay to the movie.”
The Interview with the Vampire series will premiere on October 2, 2022, on AMC and AMC+. Check out all the all-new trailer below, and the rest of our SDCC 2022 coverage here!
