Fantastic news has just come in for fans of Ash vs. Evil Dead, the continuation of the Evil Dead movie trilogy that aired for three seasons on Starz. After the show was canceled in 2018, franchise star Bruce Campbell announced that he would no longer portray Ash Williams in any live-action Evil Dead projects. That means there’s no chance of another season of Ash vs. Evil Dead, nor will he bring back Ash in the upcoming film Evil Dead Rise.
But that doesn’t mean Campbell is finished with providing his voice and likeness to Ash. Just recently, Evil Dead: The Game was released, renewing interest in the Evil Dead series by featuring characters from all throughout the franchise. That includes both Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago) from Ash vs. Evil Dead, as both voiced themselves for the game alongside Campbell as Ash.
Getting Ash vs. Evil Dead back into the spotlight may help get the series a continuation after all, but in animated form. This past weekend, Campbell was present at San Diego Comic-Con and fielded a variety of questions.

Per Collider, Campbell revealed that talks have officially started on an Ash vs. Evil Dead animated series.
“You can do the future a lot easier in animation. I still sound like Ash, and you know, my voice hasn’t been as beat up as my body has been so I can still do that crap. So I’ll still do the video game. And we’re already talking about an animated [series].”
Early “talks” are not quite the same thing as getting greenlit, so fans shouldn’t fully anticipate the animated series just yet. It is certainly worth noting that going animated would be much cheaper than another live-action season, so that may help the show’s odds of becoming a reality. Time will have to tell, but in any case, this seems to be the closest fans have come since Ash vs. Evil Dead ended four years ago to see the Ghost Beaters reunite to slay Deadites once again.
