Friday the 13th: Is New Line Teasing a New Jason Movie?

New Line

There have been rumors lately that a new Friday the 13th movie could finally be happening, and it’s now looking a lot like there could be some truth to that. For the past several years, the rights to the franchise had been tangled up in a legal battle that never seemed to end, though recent rumors have suggested that both sides had finally come to terms. However, an official announcement for a new movie hasn’t yet been made.

With that said, New Line Cinema has seemingly teased something big that’s coming for the Friday the 13th franchise. On Instagram, the studio’s official account posted a screenshot of someone named Jason Voorhees asking to send a message. Vaguely, the caption adds, “Uh oh. What do you think Jason Voorhees wants?!”

While this is not exactly a movie announcement, it could be a tease of some big news around the corner, such as information about the next Friday the 13th film. A look at the comments section of the post will show that many fans are convinced that this has to do with a new movie. In any case, the post is generating a lot of interest in the horror community, and people will certainly be keeping an eye on New Line’s social channels to see what might be coming next.

You definitely cannot blame the fans for hoping that this is the announcement they have all been waiting for. There has been a boom in the slasher genre in recent years, with other popular franchises like Scream and Halloween getting all-new movies. There hasn’t been a Jason movie since 2009’s Friday the 13th reboot, and people are more eager than ever to get Jason Voorhees back on the big screen. Let’s just hope that this wasn’t just a social media manager having some fun and that there really is something major that will soon be announced.
