Warner Bros. Pictures

Halloween lovers rejoice! One of the most beloved spooky season movies finally gets a limited theater release. Trick ‘r Treat, the supremely fun horror anthology film from Michael Dougherty (KrampusGodzilla: King of the Monsters) was set for release in 2007, but Warner Bros. pulled the film from it’s theatrical slot, never rescheduling, and later released the film straight-to-DVD in 2009.

In the 15 years since its release, Trick ‘r Treat has become a Halloween-time staple in most horror-loving households, as the film toes the line between being slightly toned down and safe for teens but still brutal enough for even the most hardcore horror fans. The film also introduced the world to Sam, the lollypop-wielding protector of Halloween who has since become a horror cultural icon and essentially the unofficial mascot of Spirit Halloween.

The film tells four different stories that all connect, and there isn’t a weak one in the bunch. Right up there with Creepshow and Twilight Zone: The MovieTrick ‘r Treat has solidly cemented itself as one of the best horror anthologies of all time.
