A new video game set in the world of The Walking Dead has just been announced. Called The Walking Dead: Destinies, the game comes from GameMill Entertainment with a planned release for PC and consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch). It’s essentially the Walking Dead‘s version of What If…?, imagining how things on the TV series might have played out differently during the show’s early years if Rick Grimes had made different choices.

Per IGN, players start the game as Rick Grimes as the story takes them through the most memorable locations from Seasons 1-4 of the AMC adaptation, such as Atlanta, the Greene family farm, Woodbury, and the prison. They’ll be presented with making difficult choices, able to diverge from what happened on the TV show, which will result in different characters dying at different points in time. It’s a way of letting the fans see what could have been when it comes to the earlier era of The Walking Dead.

It’s said that more than a dozen characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead are included in the game. Along with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), other confirmed characters include Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), and The Governor (David Morrissey). While the characters appear to look as they do on the TV show, it doesn’t appear that the original show’s actors are involved, going by the new voices in the trailer.

This marks the latest game to be made for the Walking Dead franchise. Characters from the TV series, specifically Daryl and Merle Dixon, were previously the stars of the show’s first adapted game, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. While the TV series ended last year, the franchise lives on through its spinoffs and continued video game adaptations.
