Months after the passing of Halloween franchise star George P. Wilbur, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers director Dwight H. Little is sharing his memories of the late stuntman and actor.
In Halloween 4, which was directed by Little, Wilbur portrayed the titular masked murderer. He’d later reprise the role for Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Earlier this year, Wilbur sadly passed away, leaving the Halloween fandom in mourning. Speaking with Horror Geek Life in an exclusive interview (soon to be published in full), Little revealed how Wilbur had a heart of gold that shined through on the Halloween 4 set, a stark contrast to the character he played. He showed it by ensuring that his young co-star was never scared of him on the set.
“George was kind of a gentle giant,” Little says. “He had been a very experienced stuntman, and so he had a lot of on-set experience, and I think the main gift that George brought to it other than just his stature and learning to move like Michael, although he added his own spin to it, was that he was very good with working with Danielle Harris. Remember, she was only maybe 10 years old. You know, it’s pretty scary to see this guy with a mask and a knife.”

Little continued, “So he was very good about always showing Danielle his face right before we said ‘Action,’ and then right after ‘Cut,’ he would take the mask off immediately, and, you know, just give her a hug or something. Danielle was very precocious and very mature for her age, but I think he was kind of a gentle giant. He was very sensitive to making sure that she was ok.”
Our full interview with Little will be published very soon on HGL. Little also goes much, much deeper into his experiences working on Halloween 4 and the other films of his career in his new memoir, Still Rolling: Inside the Hollywood Dream Factory. The book is now available at Amazon and other retailers, and you can read more about it at Little’s official website.
