Shudder announced today that the streaming platform has acquired the rights to Daddy’s Head, the chilling sophomore feature from writer-director Benjamin Barfoot (Double Date) starring Julia Brown (World on Fire) and Rupert Turnbull (Nativity Rocks). The film is produced by Matthew James Wilkinson and Patrick Tolan of Stigma Films. The rights will cover North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans to release the film exclusively on the streamer on October 11, 2024.
Daddy’s Head follows a boy and his young, recently widowed stepmother who find themselves in fear for their lives after they are visited by a strange and unexplainable creature – something that appears to mimic a horrifying version of the boy’s recently deceased father.
“Daddy’s Head is a very important film for me as it intertwines personal feelings about family, grief, and trauma with my desire to experiment with the horror genre. It’s very exciting to partner with Shudder as they’ve shown nothing but enthusiasm and excitement towards the film,” said director Benjamin Barfoot.
The deal was negotiated by AMP on behalf of the filmmakers and Adam Koehler on behalf of Shudder.
