The legendary Hammer Films, which produced horror classics such as The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Dracula (1958), and The Mummy (1959), has revealed that its next movie will feature a new monster for the first time in 60 years. Casey Walker, who produced The Void (2016) and In a Violent Nature (2024), will write, direct, and produce Ithaqua with Peter Scott Vicaire and Pascal Trottier as co-writers.
The film will star Luke Hemsworth (Westworld, Thor: Love and Thunder), Kevin Durand (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Abigail), Michael Pitt (Funny Games 2007, Lisey’s Story), Craig Lauzon (Royal Canadian Air Farce, Trickster), and Leenah Robinson (1923, Don’t Even).
Hammer took to its Instagram page to make the official announcement, which reads:
The wait is over.
For the first time in 60 years, Hammer is unleashing a brand new monster.
Introducing Ithaqua, created by director and producer Casey Walker.
Set in the brutal wilderness of 1800s Canada, the fur trade is in decline and a remote outpost is starving. A mercenary fights to unite the survivors against the cold, the hunger… and something far worse. A dark force is watching. Waiting. And those who fall into its grasp are cursed with an insatiable hunger for flesh.
Hammer Horror’s legacy continues with Ithaqua, now in production, starring Luke Hemsworth, Kevin Durand, Michael Pitt, Craig Lauzon & Leenah Robinson, and directed by Casey Walker.
