Every fan of Telltale’s interactive adventure games was no doubt bummed out when the studio announced it was closing its doors. Although their latest games had been well-received critically, sales were not high enough to keep the company afloat. This left the fate of Clementine, the primary character from their flagship series The Walking Dead, completely undetermined.
With four planned episodes for the game’s final season, Telltale’s closure came at a time when only the first two episodes had been made. With nobody knowing what would come next, it began to look like the story would end on a cliffhanger. Fortunately, however, we now know for sure that the series will resume to properly close out Clementine’s story, and it’s even sooner than we would have thought!
With Skybound Games taking over development, Episode 3 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be available as soon as next month. Titled “Broken Toys,” the episode has been given an official release date of Jan. 15, 2019. Of course, if you pre-purchased the game’s final season prior to Telltale closing their doors, this episode and the planned series finale will be available to you at no additional cost. The game is now being added back into the Steam, Playstation, Nintendo, and Xbox digital stores for fans looking to purchase them, knowing the series will now be properly finished.
Better yet, the folks at Skybound have also released an official trailer for “Broken Toys.” In addition to teasing what’s coming next, it features a very familiar voice of someone from the past whom every long-time player still remembers quite fondly. You can take a look at it below!
Synopsis: After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be Clementine’s chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. In this gripping, emotional final season, your choices will define your relationships and determine how Clementine’s story ends.
