Nickelodeon has released the official trailer for the limited series revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark? Originally released in 1990, the classic anthology series served as an introduction to the genre for many budding horror fans of the era. In particular, Zeebo the Clown is probably responsible for countless cases of coulrophobia. The show ran until 1996 and came back for a revival from 1999 to 2000 before the franchise officially ended its run.
Now, a new generation will get to experience the terror as told by the members of the Midnight Society. Confirmed for the cast as the new members of the group who meet secretly at night to tell spooky tales are Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech, Tamara Smart, Jeremy Taylor, and Lyliana Wray. Rafael Casal has also been cast as the mysterious Mr. Top Hat. The series will premiere on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT, with the second and third installments following on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. Each episode will be an hour long, making the series a three-hour event.

Synopsis: Are You Afraid of the Dark? will follow members of an entirely new Midnight Society, who tell a terrifying tale of the Carnival of Doom and its evil ringmaster Mr. Top Hat, only to witness the shocking story come frightfully to life.
An Are You Afraid in the Dark? movie written by Gary Dauberman was also reported to be in development for a release this fall, but the project seems to have since died in development hell. Earlier this year, the Paramount took the project off of their release schedule, and there have been no reports about production resuming on the movie. For now, this limited series on Nickelodeon will be all that we’re going to get, but we’ll see what the future holds.
