Chris Rock’s ‘Saw’ Film and ‘John Wick 4’ get New Release Date

Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021) | Lionsgate

As disruptions in the entertainment industry rage on, Lionsgate has announced two major delays in their release schedule.

Spiral: From The Book of Saw, or Spiral, is the ninth installment in the Saw franchise. Written by Chris Rock and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the film was set to release this month, on May 15th, but got pushed out an entire year. The new release date will be May 21, 2021. The film stars Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Zoie Palmer.

Synopsis: “Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly trapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”

Another major release that Lionsgate announced is John Wick 4, starring Keanu Reeves as “retired” hitman John Wick. Originally set for release on May 21, 2021, the fourth in the franchise will now hit theaters on May 27, 2022. The film follows the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which released on May 17, 2019.
