The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video games are getting an all-new remaster for the upcoming release Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. Featuring updated versions of the first two games in the classic video game franchise, the new title will compile those games together while adding new content. An announcement trailer has also been released, letting us see what the remastered version of the original games will look like.
Many new tricks and moves will be added to the remaster along with everything we could do the in originals. According to Jen Oneal of developer Vicarious Visions, the game has been designed with fans of the original in mind, as there will also be the option of switching between the classic control scheme or the modern control scheme. “We didn’t want to change anything because the reality is your muscle memory sets in and you’re automatically hitting the buttons the way you remember it. But the one thing that we did have to put a little extra attention on, because back then it didn’t exist were the analog sticks,” Oneal tells IGN.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will also support an online multiplayer mode along with a split-screen multiplayer mode for local play. Create-a-Park and Create-a-Skater modes will also be present, with players able to share what they create with others online. Most of the music from the original two games are also back, so even the soundtrack will also be familiar. Of course, one noticeably different aspect of the remaster is that it looks a million times better with its updated graphics, even though the layouts of the original levels will remain the same.
The game will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store on September 4th, 2020. Pre-orders for the game will also give fans early access to a demo of the Warehouse level. You can watch the announcement trailer for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 below!
