Arnold Schwarzenegger can be accused of many things. However, failing to fulfill his promises is not one of them. Well, at least not when it comes to his world famous “I’ll be back” line. In fact, the Austrian Oak will be back very soon when he returns to the Terminator franchise one more time in Terminator 6.

Schwarzenegger, who rose to prominence following James Cameron’s original two Terminator epics, and then sank to new lows in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Genisys, is believed to be playing the human character that inspires the design choice for the original T-800.

According to James Cameron, the film will explore exactly why so many T-800 models were adorned with Arnie’s sensuous mush. Is it because that particular model was closest to hand when they needed to send one back in time to murder Sarah Connor? Or was Schwarzenegger’s character linked to Skynet in other ways – a founder perhaps? Or even a slave, whose DNA is harvested time and time again? Cameron states these questions have haunted him for years (presumably from his bed made of cash), and he finally wants to answer them with his proposed new trilogy.

We can only assume the deleted scene from the Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines DVD, with Arnold as a US Soldier with a southern accent, isn’t canon.

Terminator 6, starring a 70 year old Arnold Schwarzenegger, begins filming in 2018.
